The 2024 Budget has expanded financial assistance programs to help entrepreneurs obtain GS1 barcodes.

Initially, SME Mauritius provided support for 3 years, while the Small Farmers Welfare Fund offered 2 years of assistance. Both programs have now been extended to 3 years.

Additionally, a new 3-year support scheme has been introduced for cooperatives.

These initiatives aim to help businesses adopt global standards, enhance product traceability, and increase access to local and international markets, driving growth and competitiveness.
